Wiring by "Rat's Nest Electric"

What's with all those mufflers on the telephone wires? :)

A couple of interesting pictures from the leeward side of Oahu near the new Aulani Disney resort.

Small meal before bedtime!

Random Hawaii picture...

Sunrise Reflections

These three are from a single morning taking photos, which started out looking for birds to take photos of and ended up being a landscape and sunrise photo shoot. The lake I went to for the birds just happened to be dead calm with a nice layer of fog lingering over the top of it. As the sun came up the sky became alive with colors, which I will share in a later post, and reflected beautifully off of the water. I ended up taking roughly 80 different shots that morning and will share more of the other photos over the next few posts of mine.  I kind of felt like a mad man snapping away. I know they aren't Hawaiian but, hey I kinda like Kansas's big sky.

Miscellaneous Maui Pictures

Since I don't have a bunch of eagles hanging around in my backyard you will just have to settle for a few photos from Maui.

Hopefully the eagles will return here this winter and I will get a chance to take a few photos of them but until then...

Miscellaneous Eagle pictures

Here are several miscellaneous Eagle pictures I came across while sorting through some of my more recent pictures. See if you can find all 15 eagles in the first picture, I had to count several times as I kept getting different numbers!

Reflections

Took this picture of the seine boats in Hardy Bay this evening about 15 minutes before the sun set. Other than re sizing for the internet this picture is as shot.  Have to love that "golden hour" light!

Somewhere in Paris.

Mobile, Alabama

 From across the bay.

If you look in the left corner you can just see the buildings of the skyline in the setting sun. On the right hand side you can see thunderstorm clouds in the far distance which were making for an interesting sky when I took this shot.

Who turn out the lights....

Well sort of. This is a shot of the solar eclipse yesterday. I thought I was going to miss out but as the eclipse started the clouds broke. Kind of glad they stuck around to add a little texture to the shot. I used a ND1000 filter to prevent damage to the camera's sensor and to be able to see the eclipse. I also didn't keep my camera pointed at the sun very long to make sure I wasn't going to do any damage. This was at the beginning of the eclipse the clouds returned before it was at its peak so this is the only good shot I got.

These shot are from 2 days sailing from Arzon to La Rochelle.  The highlight of this convoy beside getting trouble with the coast guard, we get to play with these dolphins swimming along our boat, and splashing water at us.

Hawai'i

I have a friend leaving tomorrow for a two week stay on Maui so I thought I would send her off with a preview of the island's charm.

You know it doesn't take much for me to dig into the Hawai'i files...

Or start to think about what I might photograph the next time I'm there...

And then reality sets in and I have to go back to work!

The Real Captain.

Actually the boat is on auto pilot mode.  Soon after this shot, we got flagged down by the French coast guard for not putting up the French flag instead of our Texas flag, and drinking while operating the vessel.  No fine nor anyone got arrested for this!  I just drank out from a cup after that,

Another Flower

As usual, I have no idea what kind of flowers these are but I thought they looked just weird enough that I would take a few photos.

Foggy evening in Hardy Bay

A blanket of fog slides into Hardy Bay at the end of another Fall afternoon.

The tourists are gone and the rain has returned, a faint smell of wood stove smoke is on the air... Home Sweet Coastal Home!

Fall Colors

Kind of reminds me of a sunset.

A close up look of the center of the flower.

A room with a view

Amidst the chaos of this summer my wife and I went back and forth about moving to Maui and living out the rest of our lives there. At one point we had decided to make the move and then we changed our minds and then we changed again and on and on until we finally decided that because of family and some other minor things we were destined to be mainlanders for another decade or two.

With that in mind we found a new house in Kansas that gave us the room that we wanted/needed and the comfort of a home in the country, away from the hussle and bussle of the city. We've been here about three weeks now and even though the move almost killed me I'm glad we made the move. Never again though. If we do go to Maui we will sell everything but my cameras and go.

This photo is from our living room looking out at the early morning sunrise with a little fog on the prairie.

Oahu sunset silhouette

This picture is definitely Ron's fault... :)  I took this picture from the parking lot at the Waikiki Zoo.
