Breakfast in Hawaii

I found this bird in a palm tree one morning just as the sun was coming over the volcano and lighting up the west side of Maui. I don't know what kind of bird it was but he/she and a partner spent a lot of time flying around the trees near our condo eating the different things they found.

  1. Olá Ron!
Aqui no Brasil tem um pequeno pássaro que tem o bico mais curto de nome pintassilgo.
Ele está em extinção devido ao seu maravilhoso canto.
Um grande abraço e parabéns pelas belas fotos!

  3. I haven't seen these birds in Kauai, maybe I'm not there long enough! Perhaps, Val could ID this bird.

  5. Nice close up of this little fellow and his bee partner in the second picture!

I definitely haven't seen this kind of bird when visiting Hawaii. Guess I'll just have to go back and have a look around some more!
