When my wife and I came home from eating supper tonight we were greeted to a beautiful moon and almost clear sky. After getting her and the kids inside the house, I grabbed my camera and tripod (yes I said tripod) and went out to the sidewalk to see what I could capture. After shooting a few shots on auto, I figured what the heck and swiched it to manual. I tried alot of different settings to get my bearings and this is what I came up with. The top photo is a 20 second exposure and a apeture fo f4.5. The bottom photo is a bottom photo is a 30 second exposure and a aperture fo f4. I also used a 5 second timer to keep from disstorting the image. I did a little retouching to the photos but not very much.

ReplyDeleteThese both came out very nice! Definately having the trees and branches in the foreground adds to both pictures. Nice shooting! Bet you couldn't do that handheld...
Finally, I have found someone standing on the same side of the street with me! If you know what I am talking about.
ReplyDeleteYou did a right thing to switch over the manual mode for this kind of shooting, and very clever ideas on the 5 sec. timer. These are very nice pictures. At the first glance, I thought you taking the picture of the sun. Good Work!
A tripod??? Now you're just trying to make the old man look bad! LOL
ReplyDeleteNice job! Frames and everything! Keep playing with that manual mode, you'll get to where you really like it. There's lots of things you can do in manual that just can't be done any other way.
I actually thought about doing the same thing last night as I was driving into town to get a pizza. The pizza won though and when I got home I sat my lazy butt on the couch and ate! Maybe tonight.
Nice creative pics. Winter moons look cold. I guess its because theres no leaves on the trees.
