Transit of Venus
Like Ron said in the another post, it was quite a process of trying to photograph this rare event which happens every 105 years. It began with a trip to the local farm store for the purchase of a welding filter or as I like to call it my ND 45 filter. After I picked up the filter a mad dash home for a quick supper and getting the family in the car to head to Ron's house for a little help and guidance. Then came the fun part, using dad's camera equipment. We tried 2 or 3 different lens taking off and putting on filters, even a stuck on UV filter that took some ingenuity to remove. Finally we found the right combo of lens and ND 45 filter being hand held a few inches from the end of the lens. The bottom photo was taken shortly after the transit began. The top photo was about a hour and half later. The photos aren't aesthetically appealing but, get the opportunity to spend time with family and getting to photograph such a rare thing, more than makes up for that. Also I just wanted to let you guys know that I may not post or comment very much, but I do look at the blog everyday and really enjoy getting to see your photos. I just wanted to thank you all for sharing your knowledge and adventures with us.

ReplyDeleteTransit of Venus, impressive event and most difficult to capture but you pulled it off!
ReplyDeleteAaron though you don't post often it's been well worth the wait between your posts because when you do it's usually something quite amazing! Last time it was pictures of lightning which was quite spectacular!
It's about time! LOL
ReplyDeleteThese came out really nice. You'll have to start saving your pennies for a few new lenses!
