Eyes on the Prize

Out on a Limb!
Caught this squirrel by surprise. It and another one were having a big time chasing each other around the trees. Only had time for one pic before it dodged to the other side of the cottonwood it was on.

The Prize!
Close by was a pecan tree whose fruits were starting to open with a few nuts already on the ground. The squirrels will be busy gathering and burying the pecans for winter food. They better stay busy! They will have human competition in gathering these Prize morsels!

    1. Ain't that the truth! That girl has a soft spot and a picture to prove it-even rodents like the squirrel are celebrated and made welcome at The Run-Around -Ranch! She's a jewel and a Saint to any furred or feathered friend that visits her domain!

    1. Not only does the dog bug the squirrels. Sometimes I think the squirrels take delight in aggravating our dog!

I do have probably two pounds of fresh pecans already picked out and ready for the holidays. Pecan Pie Pics? You never know!

  4. Ummmm pecans! We love them also!

No worries-the squirrel will be safe and sound. Have to admit though-back in my younger days-fried squirrel after a killing frost was a treat! Put a little biscuits and cream gravy to go with them--melt in your mouth goodness. Natures Bounty!

    1. My grandma used to have them when I would visit during the winter. The four-legged kind! You have missed out!

The population of the two-leggers is growing and spreading!

  8. And, I suppose that the pesky little squirrels will make off with almost as many as the humans gather. Pecans are among my favorites.
