It's been a banner year for Blackberries and fish over here on Northern Vancouver Island! I managed to pick well over a 5 gallon pail of Blackberries and have them stored in the freezer, probably going to make Blackberry jelly out of allot of them but save enough to have with ice cream and on pancakes.
I must admit it always makes me a little nervous when Mother Nature decides to provide a bumper crop of anything. Past experience tells me this abundance usually precedes a nastier than normal Winter... So just to be safe I've cut an extra couple chords of firewood, forewarned is forearmed as the saying goes!
Mmmm, blackberry jam is one of the finest pleasures there is!
ReplyDeletelove berries. have them every morning before coffee - but i have to buy mine. :)
ReplyDeleteyou're right about the bumper crop of food source for wildlife before a harsh winter season...
