These were both taken with the Sigma 150-500mm lens at 500mm from the shore. These were probably to far out there to be photographing but I did it anyway just because they kept jumping out of the water and taunting me!
These are both cropped about 50%.
I think it's time for a garage sale so I can start my 300-800mm lens fund. Now what can I find of Cheryl's that she doesn't need? LOL
i think she might sell YOU. :)
ReplyDeletei like these shots! the layers of blue are gorgeous!
LOL Tex! My only saving grace there is nobody else would put up with me so I'm not worth much on the open market. :~)
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy these photos with the divide between the ocean and the island. It look amazing. And these whales.... must have been quite a sight. =) Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteHello Sandy! Glad to have you back. I was wondering why you hadn't been around for a while, vacation or just busy?
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend yourself!
That blue water even seems to give the hills a blue cast. Jumping whales watching, a great pastime while walking the beaches!
ReplyDeleteWhat about a 2x teleconverter to use with your Sigma 150-500? This would be much less expensive and give you a 300-1000mm lens!
ReplyDeleteOr you could just buy the 300-800mm lens with all the money you saved by not buying the tiki... LOL
Paul,
ReplyDeleteI've looked at the 2x teleconverters and have gone back and forth on that idea. The biggest problem with a teleconverter for the 150-500mm is the autofocus will not work. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal but in shooting the whales having continuous focus going makes big difference.
I may have to try one next time instead of the new lens but I'm not going to give up on the new lens just yet. Unless of course I by that tiki!! LOL
