Brrr!
Wonder what it would be like to have a coat of feathers that you could poof up to ward off the cold Arctic temperatures? Guess you would have to be a bird, a Sparrow in this case, to give an answer.
Here Comes the Sun!
Sun was just breaking the eastern horizon as I raised the window blind by my coffee spot in the sun room. Patiently sitting in the dormant hibiscus bush were several puffed up sparrows waiting on the sun. Fancy That! Looks like a photo opportunity in the making!
Let's Eat!
All excited over the new food supply that had magically appeared overnight, it suddenly became a 'free for all' at the feeder. Greedy little beggars at best! I guess they think it will be their last bite!
more later
you are sweet to look out for them! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tex!
DeleteCharlotte provides the birds with food all year long. The seed bell, with the black sunflower seeds, is actually for the cardinals. Loose feed for the sparrows and others are in the other feeders around the yard. Might even have a Red Cardinal pic in a future post feeding at the bell.
Sparrows look so commonplace until you see a close-up like you provided in your clear photos;they have beautiful markings. I love sparrows because they are so adaptable.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a lot of different varieties that seem to get along with each other.
DeleteThe first two pictures came out real nice, good lighting and I like the composition too.
ReplyDeleteSure start seeing a bunch of different birds come to visit when you put out some feed for them, especially when the weather is cold like it is now.
Correct you are. Food source sure draws them in.
DeleteNice captures! It looks like a good morning for you! I haven't seen a sunlight for the last three days. Hopefully, it warm enough to melt all the ice around here today.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. Ready for sun and warmer temps ourselves.
DeleteThe first two photos are really nice. (nothing worng with the third photo you understand. LOL) Coffee in one hand and a camera in the other, that's the way to shoot!
ReplyDeletePoofed up feathers or not, I'll take being inside in the heat any day! Colder than a wells digger's, well, you know, up here. I'm already tired of winter!
That's pretty cold. Had to bring the brass monkeys in the house here it was so cold! LOL
DeleteIt's so cold here our birds have been staying in and watching TV.
ReplyDeletePretty smart birds out New Mexico way. Include me in the flock!
