It's not Hawai'i....
...but it's not my front yard either!
We spent a couple of days in the Colorado mountains this past weekend and I finally got a chance to take a few photos.
I also learned that spending a lot of time at high elevations requires patience and moving slower than usual, something along the pace of a government employee I think. LOL

Interesting challenge...
Just down the street from the Hawaii Civil Marriage Office from yesterday's post I came across this... Obviously the City has had problems with pressure reducers and water meters going missing in the past and was taking no chances with this one!
I'm thinking this would be a fun challenge for someone who fancied themselves an amateur Houdini or Chris Angel wanna be!

Everyone Enjoying The Sunset.
My #1 rule is that never walk on the beach with my tennis shoes! You always want to be a traveler, not a tourist.
Hmm...
Perhaps I'm over thinking this but there has to be something profound or paradoxical about the two contrasting statements in this picture... Than again, perhaps not.

Steel Wool Photography On Kauai Island.
These pictures it was shot in the dry cave near Hanalie, and Fuji beach. I'm back from 11 days on the island, it was a good trip, and trying recovery the injuries from the trip. The biggest bonus on this trip is meeting Val, and her husband. Can't wait to get back on the island again in the near future.
Flowers and Stars
I still haven't been able to get any farther than my front yard to take photos. The two flower shots I took yesterday and the Milky Way photo is from when Aaron and I went out in the middle of the night a few weeks ago.

Moody skies
A view looking north out of Hardy Bay of the moody skies. Truth be known we've had an incredibly warm and dry spring on Northern Vancouver Island this year, hopefully summer follows suit!

Bush Bird
I came across this Dark Eyed Junco a few days ago while out exploring logging roads. I've actually seen a number of these little birds recently but this is the only one that held still long enough for me to take it's picture.
Yard Birds
Just a few birds flying around in the front yard.
I know the first one is some kind of woodpecker (I think) and the second one is a mockingbird but the other two, well, they're birds!

Keeping tabs on Q
According to my "sources" Q has been getting in some good photo time while on vacation. And by sources I mean Val of course!
I received this photo from Val just about an hour ago, sent from her phone, and if she sent it the same time she took it then it had to be around 6:45 a.m. Kaua'i time. Q will make you work for those good photos!
This one Val shot using her i-pad. I sure hope Q shows her how to use a real camera. LOL
I worked on both photos "just a little" in photoshop before posting them.

Juvenile Dragonfly
At least I'm assuming it's a juvenile...
The other weekend we were having a hot dog roast up at the lake, I got up from my camp chair to get something and when I returned this little guy was sitting on my chair. I almost didn't see him and would have squished him had I sat down.
After taking a number of pictures of the little fellow I set the camera aside and went to sit down but he still wouldn't move! So I reached down with my right hand and he climbed right onto my finger, no fear! I got to get a picture of this I thought to myself. One little problem, ever try to run a full size DSLR camera with your left hand? Wasn't going to happen so no picture of a dragonfly perched neatly on the tip of my finger but a funny story to go with the picture I did get!

Devils Paintbrush
Unlike the not so common Indian Paintbrush I posted yesterday, the Devils Paintbrush flowers are showing up in numerous places, especially along roadsides and unkempt lawns.
Thank you to TexWisGirl for helping me figure out the name of this flower around this time last year!
Yucca
Not yucca.
I still haven't gotten any farther than my front yard for taking photos but at least I am getting to take a few photos.
The last shot is a stack of ten different photos to bring the whole shot into focus.
