This is a common sight and not the least bit alarming for those of us living in the Temperate Rainforest on Northern Vancouver Island.
The felled trees and the standing trees in the background are all about 60 to 70 years old, that is to say that this area has already been harvested at least once and will be harvested again in another 60 or 70 years.
After these logs are hauled away the tree planters will come through and plant hundreds of new seedlings, Soon after that the roads will be deactivated and within 20 years "you won't be able to see the forest for the trees" as the old saying goes!
