20 minutes of mayham... sort of.

Today I took about 200 pictures within 20 minutes. First I found a Doe and a couple of kids took about 3 pictures, adjusted the aperture (accidently bumped the selector dial to manual) and took about 97 more very dark deer pictures. The above picture is a Photoshop recovery of one of the dark pictures, don't look at it real close up because it is full of pixel noise and fuzzy...

A mile and a few minutes later after cursing myself for being such a klutz with the camera controlls I came upon some Loons and after taking another 100 or so pictures felt much better. Gotta be at least one good picture today out of all that! Oh yeah and all the Loons are in focus too!

Which way did he go, which way did he go . .

This would have made a pretty funny video of the bobble heads in the grass but all I had with me was the Nikon

Portraits

Love Birds

I wish I'm look this thin all the time!

Someone enjoying the view!

Waiting for the Groom!

West Coast Shipwreck

Not much left of this small log salvage boat. Steel boats can last for many years, but you have to keep on top of the paint work. Salt water will corode exposed steel very quickly!

There were bits and pieces of boat all around the area... Engine, prop shaft broken glass etc, but someone must have found the treasure chest already as it wasn't anywhere to be found! LOL

Old Faithful Geysers.

Balancing act

Why yes Paul, I did do a little looking around while I was there! LOL

This 1000+ pound granite rock is what I found just below and west of the cave. It is balancing on the one rock below it and the back corner is touching the rock on the left to hold it steady.

In my other hobby this is a very important rock. These were left behind by the Spanish in the 1600's and 1700's and were known as "compass rocks". The Spanish would shape and stack these rocks to point the direction to the mine or vault were the minerals from the mines were kept.

I will definitely be returning to this spot when it cools off!

Golden Light.

On the inside looking out

I took a hike in the sweltering heat the other day (not the brightest thing I've ever done) and I came across this small cave that looked like the perfect hideout. There is only one way to approach the cave and once you are in it you can literally see for miles so no one would be sneaking up on you.

I sat and wondered who may have been there a century or two before me.

Fun night shots in Waikiki

Ron asked me to post a picture on this blog site of a Waikiki troley car which I had posted on another photo sharing site (Hawaiidigicam). I called the photo "Electric Trolley Car" it got a surprising number of views for such a disasterous picture! The top and bottom pictures were taken at the same time.

Must have been the warm tropical air, gentle Kuhio breeze, ukulele music and the smiling faces all around me that made me the crazy photographer that night in Waikiki.

Owl

I'm not sure which species this Owl belong to, but
this bird was very small, just as big as our palm.
These shots came from 600mm lense.

OF ALL PLACES

for a mom to leave their kid!
One evening in June arriving back at campground after enjoying a steak dinner in town with Ron and his wife this is what confronted us! My neighbor was looking under his truck wondering what to do about this situation. As he was not needing to use his truck that evening Ron advised leaving the newborn alone so as not to put any human scent on it.
Sure enough some time during the night mom came for her baby. After looking around for awhile mom and baby were spotted at the edge of woods nursing.

Who's watching who?

I found this lizard snooping around my chair this morning while I was sitting outside enjoying the 80% humidity. You do know I was being sarcastic, right? LOL

Tidal flats

Always something interesting to photograph when you go exploring on one of the many tidal flats that are at the head of most inlets.

Blue skys and water for Parker

Paul and Quyhn Le have already seen most of these but for everyone else I thought I would post a few here. I may be repeating myself some from the last year or so but I will try to keep from doing it too much.
The wife and I scuba diving off the coast of Maui with a few water drops on the lense (You don't have to worry about that when you are actually under the water!). The yellow you see in the water are the bright yellow dive fins we are wearing. I guess the dive master didn't want us getting lost!

This was taken on Ka'anapali Beach with the island of Lana'i in the background.

It's time for a Mai Tai!!

Paul's Dreams

This was taken about 6:30 a.m. one morning from my lanai on Maui. Sounds so posh, doesn't it? LOL
Not to rub it in, but it really was a nice place to stay. Impeccable service, right on the water and this was from the 22nd floor. I'm talking about the Hyatt Regency Maui if you are wondering.

These two ships came in late the night before, actually I think it was very early that morning, and started off loading their passengers into the town of Lahaina around 8:00 a.m.. This was taken on that antique stuff they call "film". I'm sure it would have been a better photo had I had the equipment I have now. I'll work on that the next time I'm there.

Paradise nearby...

In my last post I stated that if the weather around the North end of Vancouver Island was nice like this year around we could give Hawaii a run for it's money... Ron said I was dreaming. Well if I'm dreaming then how do you explain this? LOL

Actually we see many cruise ships from Seattle and Vancouver on their way up the Inside Passage to Alaska and back. Every once in a while one will stop in Port Hardy. For a few hours the population here almost doubles and the little shops near the waterfront get very busy.
