More from Maui

I blame it on Paul. I've been trying to be good and not post a bunch of Hawaii photos but Paul just had to put up his wall art photos so I started daydreaming about Maui again.

I've think I've posted different versions of both of these shots before. These were both taken along the Road to Hana and the bottom photo is an HDR image of five bracket shots.

"The Birds"

I almost titled this post "Duck and cover"...

Lots of Seagulls in Hardy Bay feasting on the salmon eggs that the recent rain has washed out of the river.

The end of a day

The tide has gone out, the last little bit of the sun light is disappearing and my cocktail glass is empty. A perfect ending to a great day in paradise.

Well, maybe just one more cocktail!

Last of the Oahu wall art

I saved the best for last!

Sailing into the sunset

Just another one of those ho-hum sunsets in Maui.

And if you believe that I have this bridge...

More Oahu wall art

More wall art or murals from the same area as my previous post.

Museum at Prairiefire

I found this is awesome building in a suburb of Kansas City while out and about celebrating my son's birthday. It is the Museum at Prairiefire of Natural History. We were limited on time and we had all three kids, which were tired from all the morning events, so we didn't get a chance to go in and explore. We did walk around and explore the outside of the building. The top photo is a 10 shot panorama shot vertically to get as much detail in the photo.

Hello From Paris

Bobbing for....

...well, just bobbing in the water.

A Maui sunset from the beginning of a wave.

Oahu wall art

Found these two tasteful wall artworks while out exploring in an area seldom visited by tourists on our last trip to Oahu.

A break in the storm

I don't have any new photos so I reached into the Hawai'i files. As always, I was needing a little island time.

It's rainy and dreary here today so I'm hoping this positive thinking brings a break to the clouds. If only because I really need to mow the lawn!

Heading out

When these trawlers are tied up their stabilizer poles are lifted up and it's hard to make sense of all the lines and poles and everything.

But when they head out to sea and let the poles down the senseless tangle of lines suddenly becomes a thing of beauty, each line and pole having it's place and purpose.

Misty Morning

I have had some very long days here lately and that includes getting up before the sun. It took me two mornings to get this shot because the first morning I didn't have my camera equipment with me and I wasn't going to go back for it. The next morning I was prepared for the fog and sunrise.

A couple of rainbows

Into every life a little rain must fall...
Well at least we get rainbows out of the deal sometimes!

A tranquil scene.

I'm thinking a person could do some serious relaxing in a quiet place like this!

Sitting in Motion

Haven't had a whole lot of time to do any photography lately. But I did get to get out of the house a couple weekends ago to go the cruise night at the annual car show our town hosts every year. There were approx. 1900 cars that came into town for the show. On Saturday night the cars take over the towns Main Street and cruise for a couple hours. This is the big to do every year and a large crowds of people are everywhere. You have to be patient to take photos with out people being in the shots and be lucky to have the cars sitting where you can position your camera to get a appealing angle. Here are two that I am pretty fond of, with the low levels of light I had to use a long shutter to get enough light which allowed for the streaking of the other cars.

Quatse River Run

Here's a short little video (less than 1 minute) that I shot with the Nikon D7100.

The Salmon have been waiting in Hardy Bay for well over a month to head up river but were unable to due to low water levels. Finally the rains came. I took these video clips just as the river began to rise and the fish were able to swim upstream. Since then the river levels have risen quite a bit more and the fish are having a much easier time making their way up river.

First day of fall...

Happiness is a full woodshed!

I heard a rumor that this might be a little colder than normal winter coming up so instead of the usual three rows of wood in the woodshed I shoehorned in a fourth row, cause you just never know!
