Ducks in a swamp

I'm still playing with the new Nikon 200-500mm lens. I was driving by a swampy area and saw a bunch of ducks swimming around so I stuck the lens out the car window and took a few shots.

These were taken with the D800 and are cropped about 70 percent.

I'm still very impressed with this lens.

  1. Pretty impressive, so is this handheld or did you brace against the car door? Either way great results!

You must be looking forward to getting this lens to Hawaii so you can shoot some good whale action!

    1. Everything I've shot so far has been handheld. Nikon is touting the new VR as something special so I thought I would give it a try in several situations. I'm planning a couple of hikes this weekend to see how it does when I'm tired and winded! After that I will be going to a monopod and tripod to see how it does.

I am definitely looking forward to getting this lens to Hawaii. That's the main reason I bought it. I wanted something a little smaller to travel on planes with. The 600mm requires some logistics to get it and my cameras all in the same trip without making the wife mad. For some reason she doesn't like her carry on bag to be one of my camera bags. LOL
