Summertime in the Rockies

Yep, summertime!

I took this photo in the middle of June last year. I was about 10,000 feet up the side of a mountain but there was still snow in the middle of June.

'shrooms

This is from this past September before the first frost came. Not that we have to worry about any frost this week. It's supposed to be in the 60's here on Christmas. I may have to lay out in the sun and get a tan!

coming up for air

Just one of those turtles I heard calling my name.

Shhhhh, listen closely. There it is...

Come to Hawaii, swim in the warm ocean, drink a mai tai or two and eat some of that wonderful Hula Pie!

If you're thinking about Hawai'i...

I can hear the sea turtles calling my name!

Just like Hawaii...

...only much colder and wetter!

This was the scene on Northern Vancouver Island yesterday afternoon. Yet another wet, windy day on Queen Charlotte Strait. Surf's up!

ps. Not the best video quality as Blogger downgrades it when you upload it to save space...

Coal Harbour waterfront...

A typical day on the Coal Harbour waterfront though the vessel at the end of the wharf is one of the larger ones that frequent this quiet little fishing village.

Not an eagle

All of the birds were looking for fish when I was taking photos and I had more than one bird fly right at me.

More Eagles

I know eagle photos are pretty ho-hum for Paul since he has breakfast lunch and dinner with the eagles but for an old country guy like me it's kind of exciting to see them since they aren't around here all of the time.

These are two more shots I took this past weekend.

The eagle has landed

I went out to the lake yesterday morning to see if the eagles were around. I was excited to see that there are now seven eagles here so far.

This young eagle circled me a couple of times and then landed in the tree above me. I'm not sure if he was curious about the shutter noise he was hearing or the sun reflecting off my bald head.

I hope to get back out next weekend to see if there are more new arrivals.

Deep Breaths

The Christmas shopping craziness has started so it's time to think those calm thoughts anytime I leave the house.

Nothing calms me more than the warm tropical breezes of the pacific ocean blowing across my favorite Hawaiian island.

I really do love Christmas time but I try to do any shopping I have to do when the crowds aren't around. Now a days it's even easier by just getting on the computer and having it delivered!
