The Grassy Knoll

Over the years I have looked at lots of documents, read magazine and newspaper articles and watched countless documentaries on the assassination of John F. Kennedy. I can't count the times I have been in Dallas and with all of that, I had never actually visited Dealey Plaza, the site of the assassination.

On our trip to Texas this past weekend we (my wife and I) stopped in to see Q and his family. After treating us to a nice sushi dinner Q was kind enough to play tour guide and take us to Dealey Plaza.

After seeing it in videos and photos I always thought it was a much larger area. From a sniper's point of view this is an extremely confined space with the route bottle-necking right into the point where the shots were fired.

I, being the opinionated old fart that I am, have my own theory as to how many shooters there were and that opinion was made even stronger once I visited this place.

I won't bore you with my theory but I will say that I was surprised by the fact that even now, people still come to this spot to see it. We were there about 10:00 p.m. and there were several people walking around, taking photos and looking behind the area of the grassy knoll.

  1. yup, it is rather solemn to see it all in person. years back, they still had a wood fence nearby (probably torn down by now, who knows) where one theory had one sniper hidden behind. the book depository window seems like a good perch, but i go with conspiracy on this one, myself...

  2. The assassination of JFK, truly a sad day for the United States...

How interesting this must have been to see first hand!
