Since 1986 a local group of car enthusiast called the "Over The Road Gang" has been putting on a car show and cruise night in our town. It is a two day show that consists of a show and shine in the local park and on Saturday nights a "Back to the 60's" cruise night. During cruise night main street is closed and the participants of the show are allowed to park on street and cruise for a few hours just like the good old days of the era. The first show in 1986 there were 150 participants but over the years the show has grown. In 2010 there were 1618 participants, this years show was expected to be one of the largest with est. 2000 entries.
I had the opportunity to attend the cruise night and a few of my photos will be from that. I didn't bring my tripod or mono pod, due to the crowded streets, which I regret. But I did make it down to the show in the park and spent a hour and a half taking 500+ photos, so you might get tired of see car photos before long. Here are a few from the cruise night and I will post a few more after I have had chance to edit get the others ready to post. By the way, I don't know if any of you have noticed but, the camera model beside my name has changed. I have been given a upgrade by Ron, a early birthday gift, by a couple of months. These were all shot with my Nikon D300 and Tamron 18-250 lens.
I see you figured out the B&W and color conversions in NX2. It looks great. That was a good choice of car for that type of conversion.
ReplyDeleteNo tripod? I think we're going to give Q a heart attack! LOL
Congratulations on your new camera. I think it's a perfect time for you to get new camera for the Fall foliage season coming up. Also, you have pick a nice angle for these cars, and good work on the PS.
DeleteRon, I'm only recommended a tripod for the one over 50's.
Ron, I actually used CS5 to the B&W conversion. I still haven't looked in the book on NX2 to figure out how to do it.
DeleteQ, I always try to take my tripod whenever I go to take photos.
Wow! That has turned into one huge Car Show.
ReplyDeleteLike your taste in the classics. That is one slick '57' Chevy! Had me one of these beauts when I was dating my wife!
The Bel Air was a beautiful car indeed. I hope to have a classic one of these days. I would have been alot of fun growing up back when these beautiful cars were everyday drivers.
DeleteSounds like a fun place to be with a camera, looking forward to more pictures from this event. What a place way to bond with your new camera and lens!
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm trying to figure out is how you got two pictures side by side in this post! LOL
I think I was able to put these photos side by side because they are done in the portriat aspect.
