This was taken at "the ranch" last week. I guess I'm going to have to get my camouflage out to get closer to these birds or buy a 2x teleconverter for the Sigma like Paul suggested.
The first 3 were easy to spot, the next 2 took me a bit,l especially that last one. They sure do blend in!
A 2X or at least a 1.4X teleconverter is a must if you are going more and more to a FX format (full frame) camera. With a Nikon DX format your Sigma 150-500mm is essentially a 225-750mm lens.
I'm going to keep the D300 as a back up and as my underwater camera (still looking for the right housing) but other than that, I don't think I will ever shoot anything but full frame from now on. There really is a difference in the photos that you get.
Q has got me thinking about a Nikon 200-400mm and then I thought about adding a 2x to it but for now, the Sigma 2x will have to do, I have to save up for that Hawaii trip!
So far I really like the 28-300 lens. It's a great all around lens that if you had to you could take only it and leave everything else at home. I wouldn't want to do that but you could.
And you're right, there's definitely nothing cheap about this hobby. I blame it on Q. LOL
LOL I love looking for Waldo!

Next body will likely be FX for me, plus a Nikon 28-300 to go with. Nothing cheap about having good taste in camera equipment! LOL

Yup all Q's fault. At least that's what I tell my wife every time the camera $ubject comes up! LOL
DeleteYeah Yeah Yeah. What next? Hey Ron, I'm bringing my 200-400mm in July, but I don't think it's compatible to your D700. LOL.
DeleteLOL Q! I bet I can make it fit.
Deletenice! thanks for making us look!
