Serious Pot Holes!

My Aunt sent me this picture of a road in Liberia West Africa. She and My Uncle have been doing missionary work there.

Guess the odd pot hole we get in the roads around here aren't so bad after all! LOL

  1. Now I've seen muddy roads and been stuck in a few myself,'But this takes the cake'! Going to take more than a shovel to get out of this quagmire!

Thanks to your aunt for sharing this, and may the Good Lord bless their work!

  2. I would say that is some serious "being stuck"!

You're aunt and uncle have more fortitude than I. I couldn't do what they are doing. I also wouldn't drive on those roads! LOL

    1. The reason they are there is because my Uncle is a helicopter pilot and he's able to move people and freight from place to place without the use of roads!
They also spent a couple of years in Haiti after the quake there and another year and a half in Sumatra after the big quake and tsunami in 2004.
They have some incredible pictures and first hand accounts from these places and yes much fortitude for sure!

  4. Bless your family...mission work is so difficult yet so rewarding.
    That road is unbelievable---

Off topic....Wondering what sort of lens you are using on your D90. any chance you have a 400mm?

    1. Val I pack 3 lenses around with me... A Sigma 10-20mm ultra wide angle zoom lens which gets used for about 5% of my pictures, A Nikon 18-135mm zoom lens which gets used for about 75% of my pictures and a Sigma 120-400mm telephoto zoom lens the remaining 20% of the time. The 120-400 is about the same size as a coffee thermos and weighs about as much!

Having said that If I were to do it again (and I just might) I would buy a Nikon 18-300 zoom lens for my D90 and that would be that! They are about $1200.00 up here in Canada but would likely be somewhat less where you are.

    2. Thanks Paul...I use my Nikon 18-105 most of the time. Just want to get more outta the photos I take. Might just have to save my pennies and check out the 18-300.
