Nikon P7700 in Hawaii

As you know, I bought the P7700 so I would have a small, light camera to carry around on the days I didn't feel like carrying the bigger and heavier D700 but since we've been in Hawaii the P7700 has changed hands.

Cheryl has been using the P7700 since the second day and she now refers to it as "her" camera. I may never get it back.

All three of these images were shot with the P7700 set on "automatic" with the camera making all of the setting decisions.

    1. The top two photos are Cheryl's and the bottom photo is mine. I only get the camera back when she gets tired of carrying it!

  3. Well done!
Great subject matter with nice composition. For most photo needs the Auto setting is hard to out guess. Frees the mind and captures wonderful images while the shooter enjoys the views. A great camera to walk around with. Good work Cheryl!

  4. Thank You everyone!

Ron's trying to teach me to take the camera off the auto setting but I'm afraid I'll be so busy setting the right settings that I'll miss the emotion of the shot. That's how I shoot, if it touches me I click! HA!

  6. Here's my honest critiques on the top two photos, and I'm not going to critique on the lazy photographer for the bottom picture. LOL.

Since, you have asked, I'm going to get into little bit more technical.
On the top picture,it's a very nice picture. I like the way you add the coconut trees as your foreground. By doing this it creates a well balance photo, and it's very attractive to the audience. However, I would zoom out little bit more to get more ground on the first and the third coconut tree.

On the second picture, I love how you add the tree on the top the picture to hide some of the bright sky. This's a very clever way to trick the camera metering so you can expose the foreground correctly. It's a very peaceful picture, it looks like you are sitting back and waited for the cruise ship goes by.

Lastly, I'm very impressed on these shots, I can tell you have different taste in photography than Ron. Hopefully, in the near future you would take the D700 from Ron so he could get some helps on the D4. LOL

    1. Oh no, I'm keeping the D700. I'll let her have the D300 when I get another camera body which at this point, will probably be a D800 for shooting landscapes. I think it would come in really handy here. I've been looking already.

Lazy photographer? Me? I was standing up when I took the photo. I could have been sitting at the bar! LOL
