Where Eagles Soar

Once again we were foiled by the dreaded distance problem. Aaron and I just couldn't get close enough to the eagles on Saturday and neither of us had enough zoom to make up for it. These shots were taken with the Sigma 150-500mm lens at 500mm and cropped about 70%. Definitely not the best shots in the world.

It's time to start gathering the pennies, lots of pennies, for a Nikon 600mm F4.

  1. Maybe a portable blind placed close to the nesting site or on their flyway would get a closer shot? Good timing on the bird-plane collision course shot!

    1. Aaron actually had his pop up hunting blind in the truck with him and we thought about using it but never got it out. Next time we will both probably bring our blinds and set up in a couple of different spots.

    1. 100% real Tex. The shot is exactly as it was taken except for being cropped.

  5. You don't need a bigger lens... You need the Eagles to get closer to you. Figure out what your Eagles like to eat and where they like to eat...

I like the way the first picture came out!

    1. LOL! Aaron and I talked about that on the way back yesterday. He said the next time we go he's going to come out to one of our ponds and catch a few fish we can take with us before we go.
