Winter came to Visit!

Snow Capped!
A little after noon yesterday was when the snow started. At first the flakes were small and only came down from time to time. As the day went on they began getting larger and steadily more numerous. Half dollar to silver dollar became the norm. Quite a sight it was and I'm not a big fan of snow.

Hare with no Snowshoes!
Oh the silence of a snowfall! It was still coming down when bedtime came and the neighborhood was unusually still. Made for a peaceful deep sleep!

Paired for Life!
After a brief dusting this morning, the sun finally broke through as the storm moved away to the east. Bright white snow and frigid temperatures remained behind. Perfect time to take these photos.

May your Path be Well Lit!
The colorful nandina berries and leaves, which keep their color all winter, seems a nice fit for the snow.

Avalanche!
Easy to see the storm was not accompanied by the usual high winds when these blue northers come racing through. Just enough to create a snow sculpture.

Snowy Streets!
Good day to stay at home. Never even started my truck today. Think I will just let the sun melt the snow from the windows of my ride. All pics shown in this post were either taken thru a window, from the open garage door, or the screened in patio out back. I'm not getting out in that stuff! Might get my house shoes wet. One more good thing about being retired and jobless!

    1. The freezing rain is what I dread the most. Builds up on all the trees and power lines until they cannot support the weight of the ice anymore and down they come! Creates one heck of a mess!

Hope "Q" who lives in the Dallas area has come through the ice storm with no problems!

    2. Thanks for your concern Parker! We have nothing but ice around here, the low temp. is not helping us at all. It's very difficult to get around, especially on the street with low traffic. Also, we have live without power for hours in the past two days, super market ran out of food, and some of the restaurant only serving just half of their menu. There's nothing you can do but staying warm, and go take pictures. LOL.

    3. Great to hear you guys are fine. Soon as that old Texas sunshine gets busy and melts the ice away, all will get back to normal!

  2. These are great Parker. I wish I had more time to get out and shoot yesterday when our snow hit.

    1. I'm not much of a snow fan, but have to say that the white stuff does offer up a nice look, with some neat photo opportunities!

  3. I like that you didn't have to get out in the cold to capture these nice bright snow pictures!

Well below freezing over here on the West Coast also, though we dodged the snow part of things so far... Fingers crossed!

    1. Just glanced at the thermometer and we are sitting at 15.8F at 10:45 PM. Clear skies, so expect it to be pretty cold tomorrow morning!

    2. 15.8? That's t-shirt weather isn't it? LOL We woke up to a reading of 3 degrees this morning but luckily all the snow stayed down south for you and Q to contened with.

I would have to agree with your choice of locations to shoot from. No reason to get out in the cold if you don't have too. I love the lantern shot by the way.

    3. I think Q had to deal with the ice. I'll take snow any day to that. Saw 7F on the thermometer at 8am. Much warmer than your 3. LOL
