Psst! Wanna buy some rocks?

I guess selling rocks must be big business, around here they sell the stuff by the freighter load!

Here are a few pictures of the gravel loading facility about 30 minutes drive from where I live. Nearby is a very large glacial deposit of sand and gravel. From here the sand and gravel is shipped to Hawaii and the West Coast of the United States.

So next time you stroll the sandy beaches of Waikiki...

WoW! That seems like a big process for gravel and sand. I know there are places that bring it in but shipping gravel or sand across the ocean seems a bit much to me and it can't be cheap!

No wonder so many Canadians come to Hawaii, they want to visit their rocks! LOL
