TREASURE LAKE MORNING

Sitting on the rocks watching the Sun peeking over the mountains to the East, the shadows were long that were reflecting on the water.

As the Sun rose higher the Native Wildflowers began to brighten, changeing the attention of where the lens focused.

Despite temperatures topping the Century mark, wildflowers were found to be blooming over a good part of the refuge. This red Indian Paintbrush stood out among the many yellow daisy flowers.

Shadow

While I'm waiting for the lighting come through the Arches, I found this very interesting shadow to my right.

More from the point and shoot

I guess it seems you should always carry a good DSLR with you when you go hiking. I was trying to lighten my load due to the 100 degree temperatures and sure enough, just as we walked into a clearing there was a herd of elk. I've been trying to catch some for a couple of months now and of course, when I finally see some,  all I had with me was the Nikon point and shoot.

I zoomed the best I could and then cropped this photo. This bull is just about a quarter the way through growing his new antlers, fuzz and all. Man, I wish I would have had the D300 with the Sigma 150-500mm lens!

Day at the races

I finally had a chance to go out and take pictures of something other than pipes and dirt! Today I went to the yearly mountain bike races and took a few hundred picutres... These are two of the more stylish jumps by the riders.

Then I got a chance to play with Photoshop CS4 which is a much newer version of the old Photoshop Elements 5 that I have been using up until now. So far I'm impressed!

Can you say ........

ARACHNOPHOBIA!!!

You would be surprised how fast these things can move. I only had the point and shoot with me and it limited how fast I could focus and shoot so it took several shots just to get one in focus. I thought he was going to climb right up on my camera as he was walking towards me.

By the time the camera focused and fired he was already so close that he was out of focus. I might add that this was taken without any zoom. Not that I'm a big chicken or anything but I wanted to get off the ground and out of his way as fast as possible! :~)

Utah

Sorry for more Utah photos.

A funny looking tripod

Three old men on a hike. I think it was a toss up as to who was going to have to help who as the day went on. LOL

If you enlarge the photo you can see a lizard on the rock in front of Parker that he was taking a photo of.

AT THE TRAILHEAD

Two great Guys to "MAKE TRACKS WITH"!! A wealth of information obtained by years of adventures is carried by their minds.

I have been fortunate enough to be taken into their confidence for the sharing of some of this knowledge. Stories flow freely. I know every word is 'Fact' and if its not 'It oughta be'!!

Ron, I will be looking for a report on the 'Triangles' .

Off to see the lizard (II)

I haven't had much time to do any shooting lately. Cheryl and I are packing up and heading back to Kansas so I've been a little busy. I did get to visit with and go hiking with Parker a couple of times this past week but we didn't have too many photo opportunities on those hikes. At least not the ones that most people would be interested in. LOL

I pulled this lizard photo from the set I shot a couple of weeks ago. Other than cropping it a little this is as it was shot with the Sigma 150 - 500mm lens.

Wings under the sea

I've been going though my old Hawaii photos looking for that one special shot I can submit to the contest. In the process I went back to reworking some of the underwater photos so I thought I would post this one.
