Don't worry, I only have a few more pelican photos left to post.
This isn't the best shot in the world, the eagle was waaaay out there and I had to crop the shot about 80% and that's even with shooting at 840mm. I was surprised the eagles were back so early.
I plan on breaking out the camouflage next month and doing some sitting with the big lens close to the nest to see if I can get some better photos. Our eagles aren't as accomodating as the ones Paul sees, they don't seem to like people much so I am going to have to be sneaky.
Nice landing shot.
ReplyDeletegrrr. eagles...
ReplyDeleteI'm not worried at all, these are amazing!

I would think over at Pomona Lake the opportunities for bird pics would be numerous. Lots of migratory species will be winging their ways south soon and that lake is along a central flyway. Take your travel trailer, new long lens and camo, for a fun time of bird photography!
ReplyDeleteNo need to take the travel trailer, the lake is only about 10-15 minutes from the house. I do need to find my camo though. It's still in box some where from when we moved.
DeleteLike that first picture!
ReplyDeleteWho needs camo... The fellows on Duck Dynasty built themselves a fairly deluxe heated blind with all the amenities out of a travel trailer on stilts... Ha ha!
Ron you really need to bring that new lens of yours up to my part of the world. You'd have a field day with Eagle pictures!
I still have that trip on my list of things to do Paul. We were going to try to come up this month but we used a lot of our travel budget up this year buying a travel trailer. I will definitely get up your way. I need to get to your neck of the woods and I really want to go to Danali National Park in Alaska. I just need work to cooperate some so I can take about a month off!
DeleteLove that landing shot! In the past years of shooting birds, only one thing you need is TIME, and lots of TIME. Don't hesitated to come home empty handed. You can try the Camouflage, birds tend to responds differently on the particular locations. A camouflage photographer don't like another photographer sitting near them. As long you give a good distance from the birds, they don't cares you are in camouflage or not.
ReplyDeleteThat's the whole point of the camouflage, so you can get closer and don't have to have a big distance between you and the birds! Well, that and looking really cool! LOL
ReplyDeleteI think that's the only way I'm going to get any really good eagle shots up here. The eagles are tucked back into a cove on the lake where there aren't any people so anything out of the ordinary and they fly off to a distant tree. I can definitely see where you need lots of time just to sit and wait for "the" shot. Or I could just go to Paul's where the eagles practically eat out of your hands!
After seeing all of your pelicans I think I am going to leave my pictures of them on the computer. Mine are no were as crisp or detailed as your. Going to have win the lottery to afford one of those. And to think this the first outing with the lens. Just going to get better the more you use it. Really like the landing pelican picture. All of them are great though.
