This was taken in front of the court house in Ottawa, KS. The city needed to clear out some damaged trees after a storm and two of the big ones were left with their trunks in the ground so that a wood carver could carve the trees where they stood. I guess you can't make too many mistakes when you're carving something like that!

I've seen allot of carvings big and small in many places, but I can honestly say I don't recall ever seeing a carved stump where it was growing. Good shot!
