Perseid and the Milky Way

With the Perseid Meteor shower starting up this last week, I thought I would give getting a meteor photo. I was able to capture this one flying over head towards the milky way and another faint one just above the horizon.
I did capture another faint one in the center right of this photo. Hopefully next weekend with the meteor show hitting its peak period I will be able to capture brighter ones.
I set the camera up on time lapse to try and capture the meteors, this is the resulting image after I stacked them in StarStax program. This is 100 images over roughly a hour and a half of shooting.

  1. These are amazing shot! I like the way the golden light on the bottom of the picture. I guess the exposure for each shot on the 3rd. picture are around 50 sec.!

    1. These are actually only 20 second exposures at ISO 2000 with a F-stop of 2.8. I use 20 seconds so if I want to use one of the images as a single the stars won't be oval shaped. Also I have been making star time lapse videos and need that many exposures to make roughly 20-30 seconds of video clips.

  2. I'm not sure which one I like best. I really like the stacked photo on the bottom but I think the Milky Way such is really great. I guess staying up until 2:00 a.m. paid off!

  3. Very nice Aaron! You picked a perfect foreground for all three shots, I especially like the first picture in this post!
