Just a ho-hum sunset

That is the island of Lana'i off in the background. Not to be confused with lanai, which is a porch here in Hawai'i. :~)

The sun is setting earlier and earlier every evening. When we first got here in July sunset was around 7:15 p.m. Just over a month later and it's setting around 6;55 p.m. I know that doesn't seem like much but 20 minutes in a month is a lot of light to loose.

I am looking forward to winter here though. No cold, no snow and the whales arrive!

  1. Nice try on the ho-hum sunset routine... Every sunset in Hawaii is spectacular inclucing this one, nice picture!

A quick calculation using the same math as the global warming scientests use would suggest that in about 30 months Hawaii will be completely dark! Better call CNN or NY Times!

  2. LOL! It should be partially dark during the day up your way next week shouldn't it. You should be able to see at least part of the eclipse won't you?

    1. I had a look at several of the eclipes path maps and they say we should see a 70% to 80% eclipse. Though as it stands now the weather forecast is calling for clouds and rain... Hopefully they are wrong as usual!

    2. Clouds and rain? Where you are?? I can't imagine!! I guess it will be a dark, cloudy and raining two and half minutes for you then.

We won't be seeing any of it so I guess I will have to suffer through with the warm sand, water and palm trees.

I had thought about flying back to get some photos and then I decided that was an expensive way to get a shot. Hopefully Q will get out and take a few and post them.
