Fading History

A lone hill stands as a monument of days gone by. The days when outlaws roamed the country side burying their ill-gotten loot to come back for later. A time when a lone hill stood as a landmark to lead a gang of banditos back to a place where they felt safe.

This particular hill is known as Buzzard's Roost in S.W. Oklahoma. I was lucky enough on the day that I took this photo to actually have two buzzards roosting on the hilltop. There has been more than one buried treasure recovered around this hill and one was dug up by Frank James himself!

These now very faded carvings of a handgun and knife are on the very top of the Roost pointing to other clues needed to find the treasures ofthe infamous Frank and Jesse James. There are a few treasures still there just waiting to be found.

Good pic of the pistol and knife.

I really enjoy a good narrative and fine pics for documenting facts.

  4. Ron the Historian! Great narative and photos to go with.

Now just need to find a NASA aerial magnetic anomoly chart for the area. You can cover way more area in a few minutes than you could in a whole weekend with a metal detector!

  5. That's a really great idea except for one thing. They started putting oil wells in this area many, many years ago and there are pipes and old well parts just about everywhere now. One of the treasures that was found here was found by accident when they were putting in one of the pipe lines.

Nothing is easy when it comes to treasure hunting!
