This " Spanish Style Arrastre " is credited to Dutch Bill, who was an early day miner in SW Oklahoma.
Small chunks of ore were crushed into finer pieces for extracting minerals of value from ore. This was done by using mule or horse to drag a large rock over small rocks placed on floor of arrastre.
This site is located north of Ron's last post on the west side of Cedar Creek.
(Note) After visiting this site I came down with poison ivy from head to toe and ticks to numerous to count!
For sure need to find a better way in than thru that brush.
I would like to see how the Sigma 10-20 would treat this site!
Great bit of history in your blog and good photos to go with!
ReplyDeleteMy second purchase after getting my original Nikon SLR and regular range zoom was the Sigma 10-20 lens. This lens opens the door to many photos that would otherwise be difficult to capture. Mine is always along wherever I go!
Thanks for comments.
ReplyDeleteStarted adding to piggy bank for Sigma 10-20! From you guys prior posts I can see why this lens should be available for photo explorations.
Thanks for the reviews and hands ( EYE ) on photo proof!
Well, if you hadn't of mentioned the poison ivy and the ticks I would go over there and take some photos with the wide angle, now it's just going to have to wait until this winter! LOL
ReplyDeleteNice photos! I was on top of Buzzard's Roost today and took a few photos you might be interested. :~)
