Having a whale of a time

These are from 2012 taken with the Sigma 150-500mm lens from the lanai of our condo on Maui.

I received an e-mail last week telling me the first whale has already been spotted in the Au'au Channel between Maui and Lana'i this year. They usually are there between mid December to mid March so I guess they are getting an early start this year. Keep your eyes open Val and keep that water proof camera with you when you're out paddle boarding!

I'll bet you can hardly wait to get back to Maui with your newest camera gear...

    1. I was thinking the exact same thing Paul when I was posting these photos. I can't wait to see what kind of photos I can get with the 600mm lens (at 840mm!) I may never come home.

    2. From the shots you have posted using the new lens it's easy to see whale shooting will be a new ballgame the next time you visit the Islands. Should be some nice close ups I think!
