Birdie snap shots

A couple of birdie snap shots... No time to set up a tripod with these little ones, they seldom stay in one place for more than a few seconds at best. Both pictures are with the Nikon 18-300 at 300mm and both are more than 50% crops of the original picture.

Just for the fun of it I got out the bird book, I must be bored... Best as I can figure out the top picture is of a Black-capped Chickadee and the bottom one is an Olive-sided Flycatcher. Who comes up with these names anyway? Ha ha!

  1. These are pretty good for being hand held. Having the VR on that lens will come in handy. Was it raining or blowing dust at the time? When I look at the larger photos it looks like I'm seeing tiny dust particles or something like that falling in the background.

    1. Very light rain at the time. I'm thinking it would be pretty difficult to go back to a non VR lens now... The 18-300 lens on the D7100 is proving to be a really good combination for my style of photography.

  2. Good work! These pics came out really nice. Nicely composed and well positioned! The lens and camera work well together!
