Where Eagles Soar Part II

These three shots were taken with the D800 and the Sigma 150-500mm at 500mm and cropped about 50%. As much as I hate to say it, the D800 seems to be better suited to static subjects and not moving subjects. The 36mp sensor really picks up on any movement at all so you have to use a very fast shutter speed to keep the images from showing that slight fuzziness to the edges of a subject.

Cheryl and I are headed to the Gulf coast for a few days of R&R so I may not be posting anything for a couple of days.

  1. Looks like the eagle is soaring around just for the pure sport of it! Magnificent birds they are! Enjoy your trip!

  3. These came out pretty good! I found with my Sigma 120-400 the little brother to your 150-500 that I get my sharpest results at f/8 for these kind of shots.

Gulf Coast... Have a great time, take lots of pictures!

    1. The 150-500mm is about the same Paul. It needs to be around f8 to get a good sharp photo. These were shot at f6.3 just so I could get a faster shutter speed. It was a trade off I had to make to get the photo. I need to get closer to the birds and I'm also going to invest in a better lens. I may have to sell one of Aaron's kids to get it but.... LOL
