Red Breasted Sapsucker

Found this little Woodpecker on a tree right in front of where I had just parked my truck. He didn't seem in a hurry to leave so I put the Sigma 120-400 on the D90 and took a bunch of pictures. Here are the best two shots of the bunch.

  1. Lovely capture...the blurred green adds so much depth to the pictures...

  2. Taking about right time, and on the right place. The tree trunk colors really match with the bird, and green background goes well with this picture. Good work!

  3. You couldn't have planned this photo opportunity any better if you tried! What a poser he was. He really stands out against the green background.

  4. wow! great catch! sapsuckers usually blend and move so much that they're hard to catch, but this guy's bright as can be - and very compliant!

  5. Very nice shots Paul! The top one is super clear with all of the detail you could ever want. The bottom one is clear too but the top one seems to have a touch more detail, it may just be from the way the bird is positioned.

Since you had time to change lenses, did you also get out your tripod? :~)
