These pictures are from Mono Lake, and AZ. I'm not sure that I have mentioned the setup to shoot this long exposure before or not. If I did, please disregards the comments below.
Make sure NO Moon lighting day. Parker should know what day in the month to do this.
1. Mount your camera on the tripod.
2. Point your camera to the North, then move to the left 15 degree.
3. ISO400, f/5.6 or 6.5.
4. Set the shutter to BULB mode, triggered by a shutter cable.
5. Open the shutter for 1/2 hour, then expose the foreground with a LED flash light for 2 min in anytime during the shutter open.
Ain't that easy!
A tripod??? LOL
ReplyDeleteI love these shots! Just the star trails are neat shots but when you add the flashlight trick to it they beceome really great photos.
Impressive Mr. "Q"! And the Receipe for taking these shots explained in detail for us. Thanks for the information!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I was trying to take star pics was while camped out at the Wildlife Refuge in site #57 on a dark night. Camera on tripod setting on the blacktop pad in front of trailer, lawn chair for comfort, remote shutter control and a flashlight for in between shots. Every time I turned the flashlight on porchlights from the other campers came on and doors would open with a camper asking "Is everything all right?"
Be sure and pick a remote site for trying your hand at this activity!LOL
Amazing shots. Not sure I would have the patience for the process.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! All of them.
ReplyDeleteI've taken long exposure picture before but never thought to light the foreground while doing so!
Thank you for taking the time to explain your techniques.
