Visited the Wildlife Expo at the Lazy E Arena and Ranch near Guthrie on Saturday. Many outdoor activities such as riding in a kayak, fly fishing, shooting a shotgun or bow and arrow, birdwatching, cooking in dutchovens are just a few of the many activities offered.
Falconry was the subject represented at this exhibit. Knowledgeable and practicing Falconers were on hand with their birds of prey to speak and answer questions about the sport.
Youthful Red Tail Hawk
This guy has only been in training for two weeks and already captured His first rabbit!
Cooper's Hawk
Indoor and outdoor seminars were going on throughout the day. There were so many different activites available there was something of interest for everyone or any age. Will show a few over the next couple or so days.
It seems to me you have a lot of fun at this place. I wish I could take pictures of these birds catching the rabbits.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are making the rounds through the state.
ReplyDeleteIt always surprises me that the birds will sit still with all of the people and noises around them. I know if I had the choice of being around a crowd of people or flying away I would pick flying away almost every time!
Great time of year when the weather begins to cool so you can make a few rounds. Yukon's Czech Festival is this Saturday, so will need to go to the parade, eat some kolaches, listen to the Oompah-Oompah-pah music while watching the dancers in their native dress doing their traditional dances. Probably even have a mug of beer to celebrate Charlotte's Czech heritage. And then the next week the Wichita Mtns. and Flute Festival at Medicine Park. How did I ever have time to hold down a job?LOL
