A few more Eagle pictures.

There seem to be quite a few Eagles around the North Island this time of year. I'm thinking they are all waiting for the Herring to spawn. A few more weeks and the beaches will be littered with spent Herring then the feast is on!

The top and bottom photos are with the new Nikon 18-300 at 300mm and the middle shot is with the Sigma 120-400 at 400mm. All three shots are hand held and all three shots are about 50% crops of the original pictures.

  1. From the young to the mature, great pics! Just wondering about the perch the Eagle claims in the last shot?

    1. I'm thinking the perch the bottom Eagle is on may have been a light or antenna stand at one time as it is bolted to roof of the fish plant office.

The new lens is working well.

    1. Ron this new lens continues to exceed my expectations, the consistent results even at 300mm handheld speak for themselves. A perfect walk around lens, can't wait to walk it around Hawaii!

    2. If you had that lens and the wide angle you would be set for Hawaii. For non underwater photos that's all I used while there except for trying ot get the whale shots with the 150-500mm.

If you took two cameras, one for each lens, you would never have to change a lens!
