Field of Dreams

I've been wanting to take this shot for about a week now and I finally got a chance to get out and do it. I actually used a tripod for the shot. It was new and I wanted to try it out. LOL

  1. What a balanced Landscape pic! Sweet!
Looking down those rows of green (soy beans?) shows and leads my eyes to that contrasting blue sky with it's wispy clouds of white! The lone tree standing on the former prairie land, before the plow, lends to the large size of the field! You have really captured the distance and depth in this pic along with sharp contrasting colors! The use of the new tripod is noted!

The lone tree reminds me of the one standing on the grass prairie just west of Doris campground that you have posted.

    1. Hmmmmm.... I wonder. LOL

You have a very good eye Parker. I was wonder if anybody would catch that. I have been waiting for a week to catch this feild with just the right cloud cover but it wouldn't cooperate. Yesterday the clouds lined up just perfectly and all I had to do is wait for the sun to get lower and I would have my photo. Unfortunately, by the time the sun went down the clouds were completely gone. I took some photos anyway just to see what they looked like.

I didn't think the field looked right with no clouds so I did a little photoshop magic (using the photo from the refuge) and wa-la.

And yes, those are soy beans and the field is really huge. It just didn't have the sky I wanted and I couldn't wait any longer because the beans would get to big and you wouldn't be able to see the rows so I cheated.

    2. That tree and sky works great with the soy bean field, Tailor Made in fact! How many times have I looked at that lone old cedar with rocks piled around it and wondered its origin and what it could tell me, if only it could talk?

    3. I hope you shooting the picture with a NEF file. I think there some tricks to get the sky more dramatic if you like.

    4. The new carbon fiber tripod kept me and the camera from falling over!

I always shoot in RAW/NEF now Q, no other way to go. I'm always looking for more tricks so let's hear what you got.
