Prairie Dogs and Sneezeweed

Spring Feast!
In May of last year the spring rain brought the wildflowers out. Sneezeweed  was in abundance around Prairie Dog Town and the burrowing rodents seemed to be enjoying the bounty!

Good Eats!
These little critters would pull up the plants and grasses by the root, then sit on their haunches chomping away at the greens.

A little Taste of Spring with Wildflowers would be nice about now!

  3. A "taste" of Spring.... Very good play on words Parker!

These are great. You got lots of detail in them along with some good bokeh in the background. A tripod huh? What's the world coming to! LOL

  4. All the details in the photos are so distinct and clear. It's an amusing photo with a seemingly sweet little critter. I wonder how much damage they do to gardens and lawns?

    1. Kate it would not be a pretty sight. Thank goodness they like to stay close to their burrows for protection and not roam a neighborhood randomly.

  6. Beautiful photos Parker, I especially like that top picture!

If I'm not mistaken all those wild flowers look like echinacea, no wonder prairie dogs never seem to have colds or get the flu!

    1. In Elise Smith's guide "Wildflower Watching in the Wichitas" She mentions that early Americans ground the flower heads up to use as cold medicine. Come to think of it? I have never heard a praire dog sneeze either!LOL
