Which way do I want to go?
This passenger train has been sitting on a piece of unused track for over a year now. I guess they are just waiting for it to rust away. When I saw this it reminded me of the toy trains that they make.
All of these photos were taken with the Sigma 10-20mm. I was only about two feet away from the front of the train when I took this one. That still amazes me how close you can get to things with that lens.
Have you ever fell out of your chair when you saw a Photo? Me neither until I saw these. In 1952 I was in the second grade of my hometown of El Reno,OK. which was located on the Rock Island Line. The railroad was the largest employer with a major round house, maintenace facilities and huge freight yards. For some reason the Rocket was at the Depot and our class was invited to board a passenger car pulled by "THIS ENGINE" for a short ride on the rails. My very first train ride was provided by the ROCKET!
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm back in my chair. I have wondered where that Locomotive was or even if it still exsisted. Now I know!! Thanks a million for this FUN MEMORY!!
